About the Conference

As the world’s future is hugely dependent on the skills and determination of the young, a reform of the current and inadequate education system is now more necessary than ever. Alongside a high priority to make education and training relevant to its economic prospects, an improvement to learning experiences and outcomes of schooling and higher education is required to facilitate a well-rounded development of a citizen with skill rather than one with mere acquisition of knowledge.

The world today faces a number of problems that range from a high rate of unemployment among high school and university graduates to centralized educational systems of poor quality. In a period of great political unrest, rising inequality and illiteracy, education plays a huge role in providing the necessary resilience to flourish.

This conference aims to provide critical insights into the benefits, challenges and opportunities of adopting a programme level approach in practice to support student learning. As well as drawing on emerging findings from the institutional programme level and research, it will offer a space for colleagues from diverse institutions to share their own experiences of working at a programme level to enhance curriculum design. These could include:

- Reviewing and redesigning programmes to enhance student experience

- Engaging students in the design of programmes

- Creating holistic approaches to assessment and feedback that go beyond modular and/or departmental boundaries

- Supporting student skills development through all levels of the programme

- Developing a blended learning-based methods

- Logical computer-based learning

- The effect of science, technology, engineering and mathematics-stem educational practices on learning outcomes

Moreover, this conference brings about a discussion on the sustainable advancement of theory and practices in education and it promotes collaborative excellence between academics of all fields of education. It will also leave room for debates on the important issue of education for sustainable development through, both, formal and informal education systems. Previously implemented models for curriculum innovation and the integration of sustainability into education and community-based programmes will be brought up and their
gaps/vulnerabilities discussed.

Through the conference topics, researchers, academics, professionals, students
and more individuals from different fields will be prepared for an active role in society towards a sustainable development, or reform where needed, of education.

Organized in hopes of bringing together teachers, researchers and distinguished professors and academics around the world to share their insight, experiences and ideas, IEREK is happy to encourage an active participation of individuals across the globe.
